The U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona has officially dedicated its Multi-Purpose Room to the late Ambassador Ruth A. Davis, IWEC’s co-founder and Founding Chairwoman.

Serving as the first African American U.S. Consul General in Barcelona from 1987 to 1991, Ambassador Davis left a lasting local legacy by securing the current consulate facility and providing pivotal support for the 1992 Olympic Games. She later went on to achieve the rank of Career Ambassador, the highest designation in the U.S. Foreign Service.

IWEC Board Member Nuria Basi and Co-Founder Adela Subriana proudly attended the naming ceremony to represent the foundation. Naming a room in her honor at the consulate she once led is a beautiful tribute to her lifelong commitment to international diplomacy and women's economic empowerment.
