Congratulations to these three successful women business owners who have been honored by the Chittagong Women’s Chamber of Commerce this year through their nominations for the 2020 IWEC Awards
The awardees will be recognized and presented their awards at the IWEC 2020 Annual Conference being held virtually on Nov. 9th & 10th from 11am EST to 2:30PM daily.
Fatema Begum, Managing Director, Daily Fair
Fatema took over her husband’s business upon his death. Unable to sustain the company, she closed it and reopened the retail store in 2007 under the name, Daily Fair. Her company has several locations throughout the country and is one of the pioneers of home delivery as well as a supplier of transportation and competitive prices to numerous small-scale retailers. They also export spices, vegetables and different food items. Their latest project is “One Vehicle, One Stop” mobilizing “vehicle stores” throughout the city. Also Daily Fair is launching an organic food brand.
The company exports to India and Vietnam as well as the Middle East. They also have a base in Dubai, sourcing goods from different destinations from around the globe. Fatema wishes to expand to Europe – she is already setting up an office in London -, the US and South America.
Noor Jannat Nipa, Proprietor, Needle Work
Noor A Jannat Nipa, Founder & Proprietor of Needle Work, introduced her fashion house in 2000 when she was in school through her first exhibition in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Earlier she had been in London and established a name for herself there. Today, her retail label ‘Needlework’ looks set to revolutionize the fashion market with its strong focus on wear-ability and glam-quotient and has been recognized as one of the leading manufacturer in the fashion industry. Noor is especially appreciated for her work with raw jute materials nationally. She has received many recognitions and awards in the industry.
The company is currently doing business in the US, UK, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and India. They would like to expand to UAE and the Middle East.
Syeda Mahbuda Karim Mini, Managing Director, Malancha
Syeda Mahbuba Karim Mini, Managing Director of `Malancha’ is a successful woman entrepreneur in the Catering and Restaurant business in Bangladesh. She started her business in 1995. Her company Caters Weddings, Conferences and other events. Her restaurant provides high quality food confirming to local tastes, health and hygienic standard with affordable price within the reach of target consumers. Now to face the challenges of corona pandemic she extended her business into importing medical equipment like PPE, Mask, Oximeter etc. As a hobby Mini works as a freelance painter and she had many solo exhibitions in different places around the world.
The company is importing different items from China and India. Malancha would like to begin importing from the US and Europe and they will continue to import medical equipment from China.
