It’s a win-win for all involved. Spread the word!
Easy project for kids (adults too if so inclined!)
As you know, the elderly community is particularly susceptible to the dangers of COVID-19. Matilda’s Law directives of social distancing are meant to protect individuals aged 70 and older, those with compromised immune systems, and those with underlying serious health issues. While social distancing can certainly protect the wellbeing of the elderly community, social distancing clearly makes elders feel lonely and isolated during these very turbulent times.
Recognizing that SSRGA has many hospital and nursing home clients, our SSRGA Community Give Back Committee developed the SSRGA Cares initiative as a way for us to do our part in giving back to these clients in addition to the elderly community and medical professionals.
Our mission is to bring smiles and support to our clients’ residents, doctors, nurses, and staff by sending weekly letters of love and compassion, drawn and created by SSRGA’s very own children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and any other children (including friends of SSRGA families) who wish to participate.
These contributions would consist of homemade cards, poems, notes, and drawings that would be sent electronically to clients who are interested in sharing these loving and motivational messages with their patients and employees. We would absolutely love and encourage the SSRGA family to participate in this project with us.
For those interested in participating, we have prepared some suggested themes for the homemade cards, poems, note, and drawings to be sent along to our clients and interested recipients. These are only suggestions and anything you send us would be most appreciated.
Suggested themes:
- Nurses/doctors as superheroes
- Flowers and sunshine for residents/patients
- Messages of love and appreciation (ex: “We love you!” “Thank you!”)
- Motivational messages: (ex: “We believe in you!” “Stay strong!”)
Once these beautiful creations have been made, please take a picture or scan a copy of the creation to your device. From there, please send an electronic copy to our email address at SSRGACares@ssrga.com so that we can send these along to our interested recipients. The more creations, the better!
We have already sent two batches of submissions to our clients, and the heartwarming gratitude has been overwhelming. We now have 150 nursing homes and assisted living facilities signed up, and counting.
As many of us have or know kids that are at home and looking for activities, this will be a fun project for them and will also bring smiles and hope to those affected. Please feel free to forward this to your friends and family who you think would be interested in participating. If you have any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at SSRGACares@ssrga.com
