Generation Z is making its way into the industrial workforce. Although resources vary, Gen Z or “Zoomers”, were born between 1997 and 2009, making them one of the largest generations since baby boomers. So large, in fact, that they are projected to make up 30% of the workforce by 2030.
Gen Z is different from previous generations because they are the first to not know a world without digital technology. Many were also raised during a recession and lived through a pandemic, so they carry a very different set of ideals and values than generations before them.
With the Great Resignation, it’s more important than ever for industries to reassess their recruitment strategies to ensure they don’t miss out on a new wave of a talent.
Luckily, the industrial sector has been making great strides toward altering the perception of what a career in industry looks like, with research finding 77% of Gen Z viewing manufacturing more positively.
