Pakistan has agreed to cooperate with She-Trade to promote women entrepreneur and women empowerment.
Addressing the seminar Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir said that the government has taken a number of initiatives to promote role of women in trade and commerce.
He said that government is committed to provide equal empowerment opportunity to women.
Khurram Dastgir said that efforts are being made to ensure our commitment of one million women to market in trade by 2030 under Sustainable Development Goals.
He said that environment to access the global market for women is bright.
Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman said the government will continue its efforts to promote women entrepreneurs through E-commerce. She said that we will train 30 percent of our girls by 2018 to make them internet literate.
Anusha Rehman said Pakistan is a vibrant state who is providing technology to women for thier growth. She said we will provide training to 30,000 women of Balochistan for E-Commerce. She said that every village and far flung areas of the country will be connected through 3-G and 4-G.
Executive Director ITC Mrs. Arancha Gonzalez, said that Pakistan has huge potential and as Pakistan has moved towards normalcy the time is ripe for the government to work for the empowerment of women through trade.
She said that the purpose of her visit to Pakistan and organizing of this SHE-TRADE seminar is to work with the government of Pakistan for the women’s economic empowerment.
Mrs. Arancha Gonzalez said that Pakistani government must enact fair policies that are gender sensitive, ensure quality and accurate data system, secure government contracts for women, strike business deals with women and gave them market accessibility, unlock financial services for women and grant them ownership rights.
Later addressing joint press conference along with Executive Director ITC, the minister for commerce said that today’s seminar will go a long way in making a statement to the world that Pakistan stands firmly behind the commitments made under the “SHE TRADES” seminar.
He said that Pakistan will work to connect half a million women to the market by 2020. He said Pakistan will also support new commitments for connecting one million women to the market by the same year.
