Nation Waste, a Houston-based solid waste removal and recycling company, will host Belgium officials tomorrow as part of the country’s economic mission to Texas.

The Belgian team will be in Houston through Dec. 10 with plans to meet with Mayor Sylvester Turner and to take a tour of the Texas Medical Center. The group, which also includes Princess Astrid, began its visit in Austin and also will travel to San Antonio and College Station.

Maria Rios, CEO of Nation Waste, first formed ties to Belgium through the nonprofit International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Foundation. Rios was named a global ambassador for the group in March, and traveled to Belgium where she met with commerce officials and dignitaries in Brussels.

As a continuation of her own trade mission to Belgium, Rios will host members of the Belgian trade mission at her company’s headquarters where she will give them a tour of the facilities and update them on the innovations her company has made in waste management.

Rios said that she plans to take her business global and that Belgium is a country she looks forward to working with in the future.
